Thermal and Mechanical Characterization of Coir Fibre–Reinforced Polypropylene Biocomposites

In recent years, the growth of environmental awareness has increased interest in development biocomposites which are sustainable materials with an excellent price–performance ratio and low weight. The current study aimed to obtain characterize prepared by thermoforming using coir fibres as reinforcing material polypropylene matrix. were produced different fibres/polypropylene ratios characterized physical–mechanical indices, thermal analysis, crystallinity, attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis (ATR-FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), chromatic measurements. Both tensile bending strength decreased when fibre content increased. melting temperature biocomposite increase loading. Regarding stability, weight loss degradation decreasing content. ATR-FTIR SEM analyses underlined modifications that took place structure modifying fibres/matrix ratio.
